According to many interpretations within Vedic literature—particularly in Gaudiya Vaisnavism and some Vedanta schools—the material universe (matter) is viewed as a "block universe" where past, present, and future exist simultaneously, and the individual jiva-soul (anti-matter) experiences them sequentially, similar to driving on a pre-existing roadway where one can see from above its beginning, middle and end.

Here is a breakdown of the Vedic perspective on this concept:

1. Simultaneous existence of material time (The "Road") The Dream of Maha-Visnu:

The material creation is often described as a temporary "dreamlike" state of its creator Maha-Visnu. Within this material world, all events—past, present, and future—are seen simultaneously by the Creator, Maha-Visnu because He eternally sees above the movement of material space-time (past, present and future)

The Analogy of a Map:

Just as a person in an airplane can see the entire, already existing road from beginning to end, Maha-Visnu sees the entire timeline of the material universe at once.

The material world is a temporary container made of "matter" that houses the fallen individual jiva-souls (bodily units of living anti-matter) within a temporary material bodily vessel however, the individual jiva-souls originate from their eternal home, the Vaikuntha planets of Lord Visnu and Luxmi, and Radha and Krsna's Abode Goloka-Vrindavana (both living anti-matter):

The material world (mahat-tattva) is a "block" that already contains all possible experiences.

2. The individual jiva-soul's Journey (The "Driver") Eternal jiva-soul:

The individual jiva-souls (anti-matter) are eternal and not originally part of the material energy as explained above.

Passing through Maha-Visnu's temporary material creation:

The individual jiva-souls enter the "dreamland" of material creation and "drives" through it by accepting temporary material bodies, moving from one point to another, just as a car travels along a predetermined roadway.

Linear Experience, Cyclic Reality:

While the cosmic time is actually cyclical (repeating universes), the individual jiva-soul experiences their life as a linear progression (birth to death).

3. The Goal: Breaking the cycle the "Road" is temporary:

While the individual jiva-soul is eternal, the "roadway" (material world) is temporary and subject to decay.

Moving Beyond Time:

The true goal of the individual jiva-soul is to escape the "roadway" of material time (matter), which is part of Maya (illusion) in the material world, and return to the spiritual world (anti-matter), which exists in an "eternal now" free from time and decay.

While some interpretations focus on the simultaneous existence of time, all Vedic traditions agree that the individual jiva soul is distinct from the material bodily vessel or container and is eternal, while time is a limitation in the material world.

The block material universe created by the dreaming Maha-Visnu, contains all possible combinations of material energy —past, present, and future, that are all equally existing as real but temporary in the material world to the individual jiva-souls and.

The movie reel analogy perfectly fits the scientific and philosophical concept of the block material universe:

1. The entire film exists at once:

Just as every frame of a movie exists on the reel simultaneously (whether it is the opening scene or the final credits of film), the Block universe covers your birth, your existence today, and your future existence (death). Just like on a roadway seen from above, one can see its beginning, its middle and its end.

2. The flowing of time where the individual jiva-soul is moving through past, present and future.

The Analogy: The projector only shines light on one frame at a time, creating the illusion of motion.

The Reality: The individual jiva-soul is always existing in "Now," focusing on the single moment ("Now"), creating the feeling of time passing as the individual jiva-soul moves on and through the fabric of material energies past, present and future.

The Implication: The future is not waiting to be created; it's already  created, has always existed, fixed and simply waiting for us to catch up to it.

3. This means yesterday is not gone, and tomorrow is not non-existent. They are just different spatial coordinates within the block universe that covers its entire journey through past, present and future.*.
