History records of Prabhupada's memory of the "Plague epidemic" in Calcutta in 1898 a little differently.

I researched this in History Books and yes that kirtan Prabhupada describes was among devotee friends of Prabhupada's family because elsewhere in Calcutta, the Plague epidemic continued on and killed thousands.

The kirtans Prabhupada talked about certainly never stopped it everywhere in Calcutta according to history books but DID stop it in the house Prabhupada was in and some other devotees houses too.

This is also because of their strong faith in the Lord that was not every where due not following Vedic teachings.

Yes Bengal had many Muslims and Christians too but not all of them joined in, that part is obvious.

Because of Kali-yuga such devotional potent pure kirtans by genuine devotees are very rare.

Sadly the teachings of Dhanvantari (Ayuravedic medicine) is almost lost due to Kali-yuga and Vedic Brahmins today have almost no mystical potency like Brahmins in Dvarpara-yuga.

Keep in mind Prabhupada was only 2 years old in 1898.

Also 1920 records at Jagannath Puri Temple reveal the English administration invited Ayuravedic Brahmins to perform rituals to get rid of the Spanish Influenza pandemic.

They chanted mantras, burned Cow dung, spread around Ganges water, putting Tulsi leaf on the sick.

Sadly these big pandal programs only spread the virus faster due to big crowds.

It was also revealed many children died of suffocation due burning bonfires of Cow dung that proved to be also useless.

Still 20 million Indians died.

Deaths only started coming down when these religious gatherings were banned and people told to stay in their homes.

In 2020, 100 years later, Prime Minister Modi learned from this and immediately banned religious gatherings and ordered lock down to fight COVID-19.

This act saved millions of Indian lives from COVID-19

In 1918/20 at the request of the English administration, big Ayuravedic Brahmins arranged massive kirtans, burnt cow dung, put Tulsi leaf on the sick, spread around Ganges water and chanted many mantras to stop the Spanish Influenza pandemic.

The fact is according to records at Jagannath Puri Temple, it only made the virus worse because of these big gatherings and eventually over 20 million Indians died.

This is because religious gathering bring hundreds of thousand together that only spread the Influenza virus faster.

In fact many young children also died from breathing difficulties caused by the massive cow dung fires and the pollution they caused that had no effect on stopping the virus regardless of what Vedic text claim and only in fact killed many babies and the elderly.

The Vedas and Brahmin teachers who follow them, obviously have lost their mystical potency due to the onslaught of Kali-yuga that has weakened the priestly (Brahmin) class.

Even the violent invasion of India on the Indian Subcontinent by primitive tribes converted to Islam from Saudi Arabia and Iran in the 9th Century AD that killed 100 million followers of Vedanta over 1000 years, and converted another billion to Islam only happened because of the corruption and moral weakness from within, from the corrupt Brahmin class that degraded the other three classes,

Kshatriyas,
Vaishyas,
Sudras,

And created a bogus class called Dalits or Harijans (untouchables)

In other words the fall of the Vedic empire was "from within" from the corrupt lazy weakened selfish Brahmin class.

The teachings from the Ayuravedic teachings of Dhanvantari were almost just after Kali-yuga began 5000 years ago.

Also lost was the mystical potency manifested from fire yugnas burning sacred cow dung from chanting different powerful mantras.

All become useless from the time of Buddha 2,500 years ago.

Only when the British authorities told everyone to isolate themselves and stay at home, did death numbers drop in India.

That is why Modi banned religious gatherings in March 2020 during COVAD-19 pandemic because they learn from the Spanish Influenza pandemic 100 years before.

These fools also claim the 1918-1920 Spanish Influenza pandemic was caused by Towers broadcasting Radio Stations.

However, this is a lie!

History reveals there were no Radio Towers around during World War I when the great Influenza Spanish flu existed between 1918 and 1920.

Radio Stations in Society never existed until 1921, they were all established in the early 1920s and never existed in India until 1928 when the first one went on air.

Remember in 1920 over 20 million people died from the Spanish Flu pandemic in India alone and 80 million more around the world.

No Radio Towers exist at this time before 1921, nor in the 1870s Cholera pandemic caused by polluted Ganges water killed 23 million in just India, mostly in Bengal.

And the Small Pox pandemic in the 18th (the 1700s) and 19th Century (the 1800s) that killed 300 million people world wide.

The following comment is about present day Hare Krishna beliefs of devotees and the ISKCON founder Srila Prabhupada.

I do not fully agree with many devotees regarding the Moon landings being a hoax however, I do understand their sentiment and their beliefs are out of respect and love for Srila Prabhupada.

However, love should never be blind or based on sentimentality because such immaturity can deny the truth.

For example some devotees including leading sannyasis believe the International Space Station and communication Satellites are a hoax made up by NASA.

However, the fact is, through my personal home telescope I can see the International Space Station and many communication satellites as well very clearly orbiting our globe.

Therefore it is absurd that some immature devotees today still say man cannot enter outer space, claiming it is all a hoax and the international Space Station does not exist in space.

They also foolishly claim man's space crafts have never been to Mars and recently Pluto, these are foolish beliefs.

They say we cannot see what is going on because we have faulty senses?

Having faulty material senses does NOT mean you never rely on them in a basic way, like crossing the road or knowing if water is too hot or too cold.

And knowing the higher you go, the air DOES get thinner until there is no breathable air at all when you reach outer space.

There are many interpretations of what Bhagavatam means when said air does exist in outer space and holds up the planets.

This kind of air may refer to solar winds, but one thing is 100% certain, there is no breathable air in outer space.

In fact there is very little air with oxygen even on the top of Mt Everest (29,000 feet)

And when Prabhupada said they can never go to the Moon, he really meant the subtle heavenly realm of Chandraloka that is invisible to our material reality and gross material body.

This subtle heavenly realm of Chandraloka exists on the Moon but we cannot see it, nor are qualified to see or visit this heavenly realm in these gross human bodily forms and the gross machines we build.

Only with the right subtle material body and qualified piety, can one enter Chandraloka, a higher heavenly dimensional reality existing on the Moon.

However, we CAN see the "gross Moon" and without any doubt the astronauts DID go to that gross Moon from 1969 to 1972.

Many devotees are wrong by denying this fact because they misunderstand this important point, even Prabhupada never fully clearly explained this fact.

And today space crafts are still going to the Moon from many nations including India, China, Japan, European Union, Russia and Israel taking 10s of thousands of high quality photos, some showing the original Apollo landing sites from 1969 to 1972.

It is therefore silly to keep deny this fact that man DID go to the Moon (but only the gross moon).

In 2020 it is nonsense to think otherwise based on 45 year old conversations with Prabhupada at a time when the devotees and Prabhupada knew very little about the Apollo missions.

Back in the 1970s very few fully understood the Moon landings, it was all so new.

In fact it was so new even very few in society understood or could comprehend that man went to the Moon (the gross Moon we see) reaching there in 3 days in a straight line from our Earth globe.

But Prabhupada says in Bhagavatam it is not possible for NASA to reach the Moon in 3 days.

If Prabhupada had access to the Surya Siddhanta when he was here translating the 5th and 8th Canto of Srimad Bhagavatam, he would of also understood the the Moon is NOT further away from Earth than the sun in a straight line from Earth globe to the Moon and IS possible to reach in 3 days.

The Surya Siddhanta clearly reveals the Moon is 258,000 miles from Earth which is close to the REAL distance of 238,000 miles as Sadaputa prabhu also reveals in his books.

In 1969 I was at the Radio telescope in Parks Australia and we measured the distance then because the Apollo Astronauts left beckons on the Moon, there was no silly conspiracy or nonsense hoax!

Devotees who keep pushing this Moon hoax nonsense are sentimentalist fools.

I asked Prabhupada in 1972 about the Moon and the way he explained it to me was that EVEN if they did go to the Moon, they could never enter the heavenly realm of Chandraloka.

I always believed they went to the Moon because of my experience at the Parks Radio telescope in 1969, as explained you cannot fully deny the use of material senses, if you doubted them, you would never choose to walk across a road or judge if the shower is too hot or cold.

You cannot use this stupid excuse we do not know if man reached outer space because our so called senses because they are faulty LOL.

Sadly sentimental devotees today do this all the time when challenged about the Moon landings. When proper logic is given they foolishly claim "our material senses are faulty and we cannot see what is really going on!

I fully depend on my material senses when I walk across the road or stand near a hot fire.

Anyway back then in the 1970s with Prabhupada, we were so absorbed in massive Book distribution, the Moon thing was never really a big deal, we never really cared, we were just young immature men in our early 20s happy to be chanting Hare Krishna.

And Prabhupada also had doubts about whether or not they went to the Moon we see, often he asked devotees to find out regardless of what he said in discussions with devotees.

He had his opinions on some subjects like Cosmology claiming all Moon rocks came from the Arizona desert however, that is all they were, just his opinions and this Arizona comment is simply not true, those Moon rocks DID come from the Moon.

In 1976 Prabhupada asked Tamal Krishna Maharaj to go to Southern India and find a Vedic Brahmin who is knowledgeable in Vedic Cosmology because Prabhupada said he did not know EVERYTHING about Vedic Cosmology.

Only one was found but he knew nothing and was useless. That conversation is on our decoding Vedic Cosmology site.

Prabhupada then told Sadaputa Dasa to research this area and establish the Bhaktivedanta Institute.

He said he was given the Hong Kong influenza vaccine in 1968 saying it did protect him (found in vaniquotes)

Our Gurukula at Murwillumbah gets a large funding from the Government and if devotees keep pushing this anti-vaccination nonsense, all funding will be lost and the school closed down.

Why are vaccinations important and now compulsory?

Most vaccinations cannot be given to children under 12 months.

So recently in Queensland at a Kindergarten, 4 children under 12 months old died from Measles.

This happen because a 4 year old went to the Kindergarten and her parents lied about her vaccines and she had Measles.

They were from a anti-vaccination group.

Their neglect killed four innocent children.

Since then the Government have strict rules and must provide proof of vaccinations.

Sadly an Indian doctor was giving exemptions but all were bogus, there was nothing wrong with any of the Gurukula school children seeking exemption.

The doctor was eventually set up with a child and parents who taped their visit with him.

He was then charged with fraud, spent 8 days in jail before in court loosing his doctors licence and then being deported back to India.

Vaccines save lives and it is illegal here to send a child to a school without being vaccinated and this is how it should be.

Frankly all anti-vaccination people should be jailed because they are dangerous....

With all humility, this anti-vaccination stance by some devotees is very dangerous!!

All you have to do is look at History.

The only thing that eventually stopped future Influenza pandemics was vaccines.

Sadly it took 20 years to develop a vaccine for new strains of influenza viruses (1938) that would have to be updated each year because the virus changes.

This new influenza vaccine was given to all Allied troops during world War 2 saving millions.

Over 100 million died from Influenza when there was no vaccine!!

Other vaccines cut the death toll as well.

Remember 22 million Indians also died from the Spanish Influenza pandemic.

Today there are vaccine for the following that killed millions before the 1950s.

The worst killer diseases known to the human race was Tuberculosis that killed 1 billion people over 100 years until a vaccine was developed in 1921.

Small Pox killed 500 million people but was stopped when a vaccine was developed.

80 million died from Cholera originally started from polluted Ganges water in the early 1800 also killing 23 million Indians in the 1860s until a vaccine stopped these deaths.

And the list goes on, history does not lie.

Even the increase in world population from 1.8 billion in 1940 to nearly 8 billion in 2020 is credited to vaccinations that helped bring about better health care.

Before vaccines, 7 out of every 10 children were dead by 4 years old from diseases we now have vaccines for.

However, children under one year old are not given vaccines.

This is why any child over one year old by law, must be vaccinated to attend a nursery or Kindergarten so the un-vaccinated are protected.

The law is strict because recently 7 children under one year old attending a nursery, all died from Measles because the parents of a 4 year old did not vaccinate their child.

She got Measles and attended the nursery contaminating the babies there who were 8 months to 11 months old.

7 died because of these ignorant anti-vaccination parents.

Today there is no choice if you send your kids to a school.

Even the Hare Krishna Gurukula at Murwillumbah have been warned that if they do not vaccinate all kids over one year old, the school will be closed down and all funding from the Government stopped.

I'm nearly 70 years old, one of Prabhupada's first disciples in Australia, what changed my mind about vaccines was when a 5 Year old Russian boy died of diphtheria in Mayapur in 2017 because he was not vaccinated.

Diphtheria was eradicated in Western nations in the 1970s because of vaccines.

It broke my heart to see him die from something he could of been protected from by simply being vaccinated.

Fortunately all other children in the Mayapur Gurukula were immediately vaccinated at that time.

I just pray it continues and ISKCON management not listen to these crazy anti-vaccination devotees.

I learnt from Prabhupada to be practical and that Krishna helps those who help themselves.

In February 1973 Prabhupada cut his finger opening mail and it was seriously infected, he tried many methods to stop the infection, nothing worked.

He then told us to bring him a doctor to give him penicillin.

We did this and his finger healed in a day.

Prabhupada told us to do what is necessary to keep the body healthy so to continue preaching Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu's Sankirtan Movement.

He encouraged us to take Western medication but due to age, he did not like going to hospitals, so we brought the doctor to him to give him penicillin.

Anyway one young devotee was confused and asked Prabhupada

"You are Krishna's pure devotee, you are always chanting Hare Krishna and translating Vedic texts, why didn't Krishna directly protect You?"

Prabhupada answered - "O yes Krishna DID protect me, He sent me the penicillin that healed my finger"
