Part 3 - Understanding how everything expands from Krsna because He is the cause of all causes.

Srila Prabhupada - "So in each universe there are innumerable planets. In this way, this is a partial expansion, partial exhibition of Kṛṣṇa. That is stated in the Bhagavad-gītā.

athavā bahunaitena

kiṁ jñātena tavārjuna

viṣṭabhyāham idaṁ kṛtsnam

ekāṁśena sthito jagat. (BG 10.42)

Ekāṁśena. This whole, all the universes, they are simply partial exhibition of the partial expansion of Kṛṣṇa.

Yasyaika niśvasita-kālam athāvalam. (Bs. 5.48)." (Lecture BG, Ch 7 text 3 Vrndavana, Aug 9, 1974)

Srila Prabhupada - "Kṛṣṇa's expansion is also ananta. Not only within the heart of all living entities, but He is within the atom also.

Aṇḍāntara-stha-paramāṇu-cayāntara. But this is only one plenary portion, expansion of Kṛṣṇa.

Therefore, in the morning we were studying... Or yesterday. That to understand Kṛṣṇa philosophically or in truth, it requires a little intelligence." (Lecture BG, Ch 7 text 4 Vrndavana, Aug 10, 1974)

Srila Prabhupada - "So from the ancient literature we understand that kṛṣṇas tu bhagavān svayam (SB 1.3.28). There are many incarnation of Kṛṣṇa, expansion of Kṛṣṇa,

"Svāṁśa" - means personal expansions in the viṣṇu-tattva, just like-

Kṛṣṇa,

Balarāma,

Vāsudeva,

Saṅkarṣaṇa,

Aniruddha,

Pradyumna,

Nārāyaṇa,

Viṣṇu,

Mahā-Viṣṇu,

Garbhodakaśāyī Viṣṇu,

And so many more.

"Vibhinnāṁśa" - means individual jiva-souls who are also expansion of Kṛṣṇa. We are vibhinnāṁśa (jiva-souls), we are small particles, not with the full power like the viṣṇu expansion, They are with full power.

Some of the expansions are "direct personal" expansions, just like-

Lord Rāma,

Nṛsiṁhadeva,

Varāha,

There are many.

Rāmādi-mūrtiṣu kalā-niyamena tiṣṭhan (Bs. 5.39). Kṛṣṇa is existing, expanding Himself in various forms like

Rāma,

Nṛsiṁha,

Varāha,

And so many others.

There are different kinds of incarnations-

avatāras—śaktyāveśāvatāra,

guṇāvatāra,

manvantarāvatāra,

yugāvatāra, many incarnations."(Lecture BG, Ch 7 text 7 Bombay, April 1, 1971)

Srila Prabhupada - "The Lord expands Himself by innumerable parts and parcels as

1 - svāṁśa (personal expansions from Viṣṇu-tattva)

2 - vibhinnāṁśa (individual jiva-soul expansions also known as jiva-tattva or individual marginal living entities)

Paramātmā (Viṣṇu or Supersoul) is the svāṁśa part of the Lord, whereas the vibhinnāṁśa parts are the living beings (jiva-souls).

As the living being (jiva-souls) is the important factor in the material body, for without the living being the material body has no value, similarly without Paramātmā (Viṣṇu) the living being (jiva-soul) has no status quo.

Similarly, Brahman or Paramātmā has no locus standi without the Supreme Lord Kṛṣṇa. This is thoroughly explained in the Bhagavad-gītā. They are all interlinked with one another, or interdependent factors; thus in the ultimate issue the Lord is the summum bonum and therefore the vital principle of everything."(ŚB, Canto 1 Ch 15 text 6 Purport)

Srila Prabhupada - "So puruṣa (means person) So in that spiritual planet, puruṣaḥ sa paraḥ pārtha, there is the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

In the spiritual planet there are, just like you see here, millions of planets or stars within this universe. This universe is a small particle only, there are many universes like this.

And in the spiritual sky there are three... This is only one-fourth manifestation of the planets. There are other.

Three-fourth is there in the spiritual sky, that information is there in the Bhagavad-gītā. Ekāṁśena sthito jagat (BG 10.42).

So, each and every spiritual planet there is an expansion of Kṛṣṇa, and they are differently named.

In that picture we will find our Bhāgavata. Innumerable. So puruṣa. They are all puruṣa. Puruṣa means the person." (Lecture BG, Ch 8 text 20-22 New York City, Nov 18, 1966)

Srila Prabhupada - "Śrī Sanātana Gosvāmī says-

"avaiṣṇava-mukhodgīrṇaṁ pūtaṁ hari-kathāmṛtam, śravaṇaṁ naiva kartavyam."

Means "If... hari-kathāmṛtam," means the Bhāgavata, Bhagavad-gītā... This is hari-kathāmṛtam, the nectarean (dialogue) about the activities of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Therefore it is called hari-kathāmṛtam.

"So one should not hear hari-kathāmṛtam from a non-realized person."

Vaiṣṇava means visnrasya devatā- one who worships the Supreme Personality of Godhead Viṣṇu and Viṣṇu is expansion of Kṛṣṇa." (Lecture SB, Canto 1 Ch 1 text 3 Caracas, Feb 24, 1975)

Srila Prabhupada - "Kṛṣṇa also confirms this in the Bhagavad gītā: brahmaṇo 'haṁ pratiṣṭhā. Ahaṁ sarvasya prabhavaḥ (BG 10.8).

Kṛṣṇa says everything is emanating from Him. The Brahman is also emanation from Him.

Paramātmā is also expansion of Kṛṣṇa.

So therefore, if you understand Kṛṣṇa, tattvataḥ, yo māṁ vetti tattvataḥ... Tattva is that Kṛṣṇa, the Absolute Truth, is originally a person.

Nityo nityānāṁ cetanaś cetanānām (Kaṭha Upaniṣad 2.2.13). He's the supreme eternal nitya. He's the supreme living being." (Lecture SB, Canto 1 Ch 2 text 11 Vrndavana, Oct 22, 1972)

Srila Prabhupada - "Kṛṣṇa Himself says, ahaṁ sarvasya prabhavaḥ (BG 10.8). He is the origin. Because the Absolute Truth is the origin of everything, Kṛṣṇa is the origin of everything. Ahaṁ sarvasya prabhavaḥ. He's the origin of even Nārāyaṇa. He's the origin of Brahmā. He's the origin of Lord Śiva. He's the origin of the Brahman effulgence (Krsna's bodily rays). He's the origin of Paramātmā (Supersoul). Īśvaraḥ sarva-bhūtānāṁ hṛd-deśe arjuna tiṣṭhati (BG 18.61).But the origin from Paramātmā is another expansion of Kṛṣṇa. That is also explained-

ete cāṁśa-kalāḥ puṁsaḥ kṛṣṇas tu bhagavān svayam (SB 1.3.28)." (Lecture SB, Canto 1 Ch 2 text 25 Vrndavana, Nov 5, 1972)

Srila Prabhupada - "This pauruṣam,

1 - Mahā-Viṣṇu, (Kāraṇārṇavaśāyī Viṣṇu),

2 - Garbhodakaśāyī Viṣṇu (Hiraņyagarbha),

3 - Kṣīrodakaśāyī Viṣṇu (Paramatma or Supersoul),

They are all expansions of Kṛṣṇa.

Advaitam acyutam anādim ananta-rūpam (Bs. 5.33). He incarnates, He expands Himself in various incarnations. Now, for the creation, these three persons-

Yes, always a PERSON-

1 - Kāraṇārṇavaśāyī Viṣṇu (Mahā-Viṣṇu), person

2 - Garbhodakaśāyī Viṣṇu (Hiraņyagarbha), person

3 - Kṣīrodakaśāyī Viṣṇu (Paramatma), person

Kāraṇārṇava-jala bhajati sma yoga-nidram ananta jagad anda sa-roma-kupah: (BS 5.47) - "Lord Maha-Visnu is lying in the Karana Ocean."

He's also expansion of Saṅkarṣaṇa. And Saṅkarṣaṇa is expansion of Baladeva (Balarama); Baladeva (Balarama) is expansion of Kṛṣṇa. Therefore Kṛṣṇa becomes the origin." (Lecture SB, Canto 1 Ch 3 text 1 Vrndavana, Nov 14, 1972)

Srila Prabhupada - "So it is said here that manu-putrā mahaujasaḥ. Of course, those who are Prajāpatis, they are very famous. Naturally. They are the original.

But all of them are kalāḥ sarve harer eva. Kalā. Kalā means just like part of the, part, plenary expansion of Kṛṣṇa.

Then the expansion of the plenary expansion, then again expansion, again expansion.

In this way, the first expansion is called prakāśa. Just like the first expansion is Baladeva (Balarama), from Kṛṣṇa. These things are described in Teachings of Lord Caitanya. You must read." (Lecture SB, Canto 1 Ch 3 text 27 Los Angeles, Oct 2, 1972)

Srila Prabhupada - "All the descriptions of the incarnations have been given before this verse. So therefore, it is concluding that-

"All these incarnations, they are expansion of the spiritual body of the Supreme Personality of Godhead."

Not that the Absolute Truth is impersonal, and He, He's accepting a form with material body, no, that is not, that is not. Just like here, Deity. He is also expansion, arcā-vigraha.

Arcā-avatāra. Don't think that it is made of stone or metal, it is expansion of Kṛṣṇa You want to worship. Kṛṣṇa has expanded Himself to come here to accept your service, don't think it is made of stone. So ete cāṁśa-kalāḥ puṁsaḥ kṛṣṇas tu bhagavān svayam."(Lecture SB, Canto 1 Ch 3 teWaaxt 28 Los Angeles, Oct 3, 1972)

Srila Prabhupada - "The kingdom of God, or the atmosphere of the Vaikuṇṭha is called the tripād-vibhūti, is three times bigger than the material universes and is described here, as also in the Bhagavad-gītā, in a nutshell. This material universe, containing billions of stars and planets, is one of the billions of such universes clustered together within the compass of the mahat-tattva (material world).

And all these millions and billions of universes combined together constitute only one fourth of the magnitude of the whole creation of the Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa. There is the spiritual sky also; beyond this sky are the spiritual planets under the names of Vaikuṇṭha, and all of them constitute three fourths of the entire creation of the Lord. (SB, Canto 2 Ch 9 text 10 Purport)

Srila Prabhupada - "Just like the gopīs or the cowherd boys, and so..., the cows, calves, they are all nitya-siddha, nitya-mukta. They come with Kṛṣṇa.

Ānanda-cinmaya-rasa, They are in the spiritual form, ānanda-cinmaya-rasa, enjoying always spiritual bliss in the association of Kṛṣṇa. Ānanda cinmaya rasa-pratibhāvitābhiḥ (Bs. 5.37).

Tābhir ya eva nija-rūpatayā kalābhiḥ.

That is also expansion of Kṛṣṇa. Just like Brahmā, when he stolen Kṛṣṇa's friends, cowherd boys, and the cows and calves, Brahmā saw that Kṛṣṇa is playing with the same cowherd boys, cows, calves, and he was astonished." (Lecture SB, Canto 1.7.40 Vrndavana, Oct 1, 1976)

Srila Prabhupada - "Just Durgā... Kālī is expansion of Durgā. Just like Viṣṇu is expansion of Kṛṣṇa, similarly, Kṛṣṇa's energy... Energy has also many expansions. Daśā mahā-vidyā. There are many expansions of Durgā because she has to look after... Just like police department. Police department is there, but there are many officers in that police department. Similarly, Durgā is the superintendent of police of this universe. Durgā. Durgā means the fort, durgā. Ga means going, and dur means difficulty." (Lecture SB, Canto 1.8.31 Mayapura, Oct 11, 1974)

Srila Prabhupada - "Just like when Brahmā took away all the friends and cows of Kṛṣṇa, immediately expanded Himself in the same way. So, all the cows and all the cowherd boys, in every case, they were all expansion of Kṛṣṇa, pleasure potency.

Ānanda-cinmaya-rasa-pratibhāvitābhis tābhir ya eva nija-rūpatayā kalābhiḥ (Bs. 5.37). Nija-rūpa. So, the varieties are there also, but here the variety is māyā." (Lecture SB, Canto 2 Ch 9 text 3 Melb, Australia April 5, 1972)

Srila Prabhupada - "The associates of Lakṣmī, the maidservants of Lakṣmī, they are also lakṣmīs. They are not ordinary women, just like Rādhārāṇī is the chief gopī and all Her young girl friends, they are also gopīs. They are of the same category.

Ānanda-cinmaya-rasa-pratibhāvitābhiḥ (Bs. 5.37).

They are all expansion of Kṛṣṇa, pleasure potency. So this is the information of the Vaikuṇṭhaloka or Goloka Vṛndāvana. So one should take advantage of this life." (Lecture SB, Canto 2 Ch 9 text 14 Melb Australia, April 13, 1972)

Srila Prabhupada - "Kṛṣṇa is the origin of viṣṇu-tattva, and Viṣṇu is expansion of Kṛṣṇa. So, when we speak of Viṣṇu, the origin of Viṣṇu is Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa says in the Bhagavad-gītā, aham ādir hi devānām: (Bg 10.2)

"I am the origin even of the devas. The most important devas are-

Brahmā,

Viṣṇu,

Maheśvara.

Creation, in the beginning of creation, Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Maheśvara.

From Viṣṇu, Brahmā is born; from Brahmā, Lord Śiva is born."

Srila Prabhupada - "All the devas, demigods, or living entities, they are created after this cosmic manifestation is created.

Therefore, in the Vedas it is said,

"In the beginning there was no Brahmā, no Śiva, only Nārāyaṇa āsīt." Eko nārāyaṇa āsīt.

That Nārāyaṇa is also another plenary expansion of Kṛṣṇa. Therefore Kṛṣṇa says in the Bhagavad-gītā, mattaḥ parataraṁ nānyat kiñcid asti dhanañjaya (BG 7.7)." (Lecture SB, Canto 3 Ch 25 text 3 Bombay, Nov 3, 1974)

Srila Prabhupada - "So we have to learn from the śāstra that Kṛṣṇa is the origin, Bhagavān. Kṛṣṇas tu bhagavān svayam. Ete cāṁśa-kalāḥ puṁsaḥ kṛṣṇas tu bhagavān svayam (SB 1.3.28).

All the viṣṇu-tattvas, all the incarnations, they are plenary expansion of Kṛṣṇa, or expansion of the expansion. Thousands and thousands, millions. Just like there are waves in the ocean and the river, similarly there are incarnations, many, many thousands." (Lecture SB 3 Ch 25 text 3 Bombay, Nov 3, 1974)

Srila Prabhupada - "This is Vedic instruction. Kṛṣṇa is pūrṇa, and He expands Himself in millions of Kṛṣṇa. Actually, He has done so as Paramātmā. Īśvaraḥ sarva-bhūtānām (BG 18.61). There are millions. Nityo nityānāṁ cetanaś cetanānām (Kaṭha Upaniṣad 2.2.13).

This bahu-vacana, individual living entities (jiva-souls), they are anantyāya kalpate. They are unlimited number. There is no counting them. So many. But He is the leader.

Nityo nityānāṁ cetanaś cetanānām.

So, we the eternal individual marginal living entities (jiva-souls), are also expansion of Kṛṣṇa, and the Viṣṇu-tattvas direct expansions are also an expansions of Kṛṣṇa.

Svāṁśa and vibhinnāṁśa (Visnu-tattva and jiva-tattva). We are vibhinnāṁśa (jiva-soul). Mamaivāṁśo jīva-bhūtaḥ (BG 15.7).

But there are svāṁśa, "personal expansions", and vibhinnāṁśa "separated expansions."

The separated expansions (jiva-souls) we are. We are also expansion of Kṛṣṇa. And viṣṇu-tattva also expansion of Kṛṣṇa. But viṣṇu-tattva is vibhu; we are aṇu—very, very small.

Keśāgra-śata-bhāgasya śatadhā kalpitasya ca, jīva-bhāgaḥ sa vijñeyaḥ (CC Madhya 19.140).

If you divide the top portion of your hair into one hundred parts, then take one part, again divide into one hundred parts, that is the dimension of the jīva-soul. Therefore aṇu, aṇu means like atom. And Kṛṣṇa is vibhu."(Lecture SB, Canto 3 Ch 25 text 9 Bombay, Nov 9, 1974)

Srila Prabhupada - "If you execute your duty as a perfect vaiśya, then Viṣṇu will be pleased. And if you execute your duties as a perfect śūdra, Viṣṇu will be pleased. The purpose is to please Viṣṇu.

Therefore na te viduḥ... The purpose they do not know. They have forgotten. Not now. This is the nature of this material world: na te viduḥ svārtha-gatiṁ hi..., to please Viṣṇu.

Viṣṇu means Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa means Viṣṇu. Viṣṇu is expansion of Kṛṣṇa. So Kṛṣṇa has millions of forms, as Viṣṇu, Nārāyaṇa and other also." (Lecture SB, Canto 3 Ch 25 text 14 Bombay, Nov 14, 1974)

Srila Prabhupada - "There are two kinds of expansions of Kṛṣṇa. One many is called "svāṁśa" who are direct expansions known as Visnu-tattva, Svāṁśa also means personal expansions.

And another expansion is differential expansion (vibhinnāṁśa). The differential expansion are we the marginal living entities or jiva-souls, we are also expansion of Kṛṣṇa however, the viṣṇu-tattva, They're the personal expansions.

But all of them are meant for serving Kṛṣṇa. That is explained in the Caitanya Caritāmṛta, ekale īśvara kṛṣṇa āra saba bhṛtya (CC Adi 5.142). Kṛṣṇa has expanded." (Lecture SB, Canto 3 Ch 25 text 27 Bombay, Nov 27, 1974)

Srila Prabhupada - "Kṛṣṇa's incarnation, Kṛṣṇa is the origin, kṛṣṇas tu bhagavān svayam (SB 1.3.28), the origin, person, ādi-puruṣa. Govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi.

Still, the expansion of Kṛṣṇa. Just like the first expansion is Balarāma, then

Saṅkarṣaṇa,

Pradyumna,

Aniruddha,

Nārāyaṇa.

Then again-

Saṅkarṣaṇa,

Pradyumna,

Aniruddha.

Then Mahā-Viṣṇu.

From Mahā-Viṣṇu comes,

Garbhodakaśāyī Viṣṇu.

From Garbhodakaśāyī Viṣṇu comes

Kṣīrodakaśāyī Viṣṇu (Paramatma (Supersoul)

From Kṣīrodakaśāyī Viṣṇu there are innumerable expansions, Paramātmā expansion. Īśvaraḥ sarva-bhūtānāṁ hṛd-deśe arjuna tiṣṭhati (BG 18.61). (Lecture SB 3 Ch 26 text 4 Bombay, Dec 16, 1974)

Srila Prabhupada - "So in this way the Śrīmad-Bhāgavata says,

"Expansion of Kṛṣṇa are so many, just like incessant waves in the river or in the ocean."

In the Varāha Purāṇa it is said-

1 - There are svāṁśa or Viṣṇu-tattvas who are "direct" (full) expansions of Kṛṣṇa.

2 - Where as the vibhinnāṁśa are individual jiva-souls who are "separated" expansions of Kṛṣṇa who have their own individuality, identity, personality and character independent from Krsna.

The vibhinnāṁśa expansion, they are also innumerable, jīva-souls therefore we are also expansion of Kṛṣṇa.

Svāṁśa and vibhinnāṁśa are not in the same category, the individual jiva-souls are vibhinnāṁśa expansion, meaning they are minute in power.

And the svāṁśa expansion, they are vibhu, unlimited in power, meaning almost like Kṛṣṇa.

So, in this way we have to understand the distinction between svāṁśa and vibhinnāṁśa. When svāṁśa expansion comes within this material world, He remains vibhu, or prabhu, and the vibhinnāṁśa expansion is always aṇu, very small, or servant. One is prabhu, and the other is servant. One is vibhu and the other is aṇu."(Lecture SB, Canto 3 Ch 26 text 4 Bombay, Dec 16, 1974)

Srila Prabhupada - "The Vaiṣṇava philosophy is that govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi. Govinda is ādi-puruṣa. Ahaṁ sarvasya prabhavaḥ (BG 10.8).

In the Bhagavad-gītā Kṛṣṇa says that "I am the original source of all, everything."

So the devī-dhāma, the maheśa-dhāma, and the hari-dhāma, they are all expansion of Kṛṣṇa.

Ahaṁ sarvasya prabhavo mattaḥ sarvaṁ pravartate.

The whole spiritual world and the material world is manifestation of the energy of Kṛṣṇa." (Lecture SB, Canto 3 Ch 26 text 10 Bombay, Dec 22, 1974)

Srila Prabhupada - "In each and every material universe there is a prime lord or the creator, Lord Brahmā. So, there are innumerable material universes, and there are innumerable Lord Brahmās, innumerable Lord Śivas, everything innumerable.

So yasyaika-niśvasita-kālam athāvalambya (Bs. 5.48). And these innumerable material universes are coming out from the breathing of Mahā-Viṣṇu. That Mahā-Viṣṇu is partial expansion of Kṛṣṇa." (Lecture SB, Canto 3 Ch 26 text 18 Bombay, Dec 27, 1974)

Srila Prabhupada - "So ekale īśvara kṛṣṇa. So only one puruṣa, īśvara, enjoyer, controller, is Kṛṣṇa. Ekale īśvara kṛṣṇa āra saba bhṛtya (CC Adi 5.142).

All others, even incarnations, even demigods, even we are, we are all servant of Kṛṣṇa. And what to speak of ourself, even the expansion of Kṛṣṇa, viṣṇu-tattva, They are also serving Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa is so exalted. Therefore, Kṛṣṇa says in the Bhagavad-gītā, mattaḥ parataraṁ nānyat (BG 7.7).

Even the incarnation Viṣṇu, Lord Śiva, demigods, and others, nobody is greater than Kṛṣṇa.

Asamordhva, asama, nobody is equal to Him; nobody is greater than Him. Everyone is lower than Him." (Lecture SB, Canto 3 Ch 26 text 25 Bombay, Jan 2, 1975)

Srila Prabhupada - "So the eternal form is Kṛṣṇa, but Viṣṇu, Mahā-Viṣṇu are the origin of material creation, kalā-viśeṣa, Maha-Visnu is the expansion of the plenary expansion of Kṛṣṇa who includes-

Vāsudeva,

Saṅkarṣaṇa,

Aniruddha,

Pradyumna.

In this way Kṛṣṇa is present everywhere. Aṇor aṇīyān mahato mahīyān.

Kṛṣṇa is bigger than the biggest and the smaller than the smallest. Relativity. Now here we are small stature. So Kṛṣṇa is present in a stature so that we can touch Him, we can dress Him, we can decorate Him." (Lecture SB, Canto 3 Ch 26 text 39 Bombay, Jan 14, 1975)

Srila Prabhupada - "Nāhaṁ teṣu avasthitaḥ, Kṛṣṇa is everything; at the same time everything is not Kṛṣṇa? (seemingly a paradox)

This is called acintya-bhedābheda, simultaneously one and different.

So Lord Śiva is also expansion of Kṛṣṇa. Ahaṁ bīja-pradaḥ pitā (BG 14.4), that form is Lord Śiva. So but, he said that dadhi vikāra. Dadhi. Dadhi means yogurt. Milk is transformed into yogurt, dahi. And when it is dahi, it is no more milk. This is the idea." (Lecture SB, Canto 5 Ch 5 text 2 Hyderabad, April 13, 1975)

Srila Prabhupada - "You have to accept the Vedic words as the words of Nārāyaṇa.

Now, if you accept Kṛṣṇa as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, then whatever He has said in the Bhagavad-gītā, that is Veda. Is it not?

If vedo nārāyaṇaḥ sākṣāt, if Vedas are to be considered as Nārāyaṇa directly, then Kṛṣṇa... He is accepted by the ācāryas as the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

That is a conclusion of the Vedas also. Nārāyaṇa is expansion of Kṛṣṇa.

If you read Caitanya caritāmṛta—and there are many other saṁhitās—Kṛṣṇa is the original Supreme Personality of Godhead." (Lecture SB, Canto 6 Ch 1 text 39-40 Surat, Dec 21, 1970)

Srila Prabhupada - "Kṛṣṇa is so beautiful. Naturally there is attraction. Kṛṣṇa means all-attractive. So... And they were not ordinary women. They are eternal consorts or associates of Kṛṣṇa.

Ānanda-cin-māyā-rasa-pratibhāvitābhiḥ.

They are expansion of Kṛṣṇa; they are not ordinary women. Expansion of Kṛṣṇa. Rādhā-kṛṣṇa-praṇaya-vikṛtiḥ hlādinī-śaktiḥ asmād.

The gopīs, Rādhārāṇī, they are expansion of the spiritual energy of Kṛṣṇa. Don't think they are ordinary women. They are Kṛṣṇa.

Śaktiḥ śaktimator abhedaḥ. They are not different from Kṛṣṇa." (Lecture SB, Canto 6 Ch 1 text 45 Los Angeles, June 11, 1976)

Srila Prabhupada - "Some of the spark are very big; some of the spark are small, some of them, very small.

In this way there are proportion.

Similarly, all living entities, all energy, they are all expansion of Kṛṣṇa.

The material energy (mahat-tattva), the spiritual energy, the marginal energy (individual jiva-souls), they are all expansion.

Just like sunlight, expansion of the sun. And in the sunlight... It is very easy to understand. In the sunlight there are so many planets, and each and every planet have varieties of production, mountains, seas, ocean, trees, or trees." (Lecture SB, Canto 7 Ch 9 text 8 Hawaii, March 21, 1969)

Srila Prabhupada - "Generally, we think Brahmā has created. Brahmā is also created by Him (Krsna). Lord Śiva is also created by Him (Krsna). From Brahmā comes Rudra... Rudra is stated to be the son of Brahmā. This explanation above are pastimes only. This is because Kṛṣṇa, Siva and the individual jiva-souls are all eternal, meaning they are beginningless and endless as Bhagavad Gita As It Is explains.

The individual jiva-souls were NEVER created, not even by Krsna due to always existing with the need to be created. So, Brahmā is the son or born out of the lotus flower from the abdomen of Viṣṇu.

Viṣṇu is expansion of Kṛṣṇa.

In this way, Kṛṣṇa is the origin of everything. That is a fact. That is the verdict of all Vedic literature.

Yasmin vijñāte sarvam idaṁ vijñātaṁ bhavati.

If you can understand the original person, Kṛṣṇa, then everything will come to your knowledge." (Lecture SB, Canto 7 Ch 9 text 8 Hawaii, March 21, 1969)

Srila Prabhupada - "There are different types of Viṣṇu also-

From Mahā-Viṣṇu there is Garbhodakashayi Visnu.

Mahā-Viṣṇu is called Kāraṇodakaśāyī Viṣṇu.

This Kāraṇodakaśāyī Viṣṇu enters in every secondary material universe deep inside the Brahmanda as Garbhodakaśāyī Viṣṇu.

And this Garbhodakaśāyī Viṣṇu again expands as Kṣīrodakaśāyī Viṣṇu (Paramatma or Supersoul who accompanies every individual jiva-soul within all the species of life in the material world). These are viṣṇu-tattvas, but this original Kāraṇodakaśāyī Viṣṇu is plenary expansion of Kṛṣṇa." (Lecture SB, Canto 7 Ch 9 text 8 Calcutta, March 5, 1972)

Srila Prabhupada - "Even though Kṛṣṇa expands Himself in millions and millions and forms, still, all of them are the..., of the same potency. That is called sattva-dhāmnaḥ.

So, there are different types of expansion of Kṛṣṇa. They are called-

1 - Vibhinnāṁśa (jiva-tattva or jiva-soul),

2 - Svāṁśa (Only Visnu-tattva).

Kṛṣṇa expands Himself svāṁśa. That is Viṣṇu-tattva. That is advaitam acyutam anadim ananta-rupam (Bs. 5.33).

Then vibhinnāṁśa: mamaivāṁśo jīva-bhutaḥ (jiva-soul) (BG 15.7).

Jīva-soul (vibhinnāṁśa) also expansion of Kṛṣṇa. We are also expansion of Kṛṣṇa, but we are vibhinnāṁśa (jiva-soul) and are "separated" forms. And svāṁśa, Viṣṇu-tattva, that is one. So in this way we have to understand Kṛṣṇa's expansion." (Lecture SB, Canto 7 Ch 9 text 13 Mayapur, Feb 20, 1976)

Srila Prabhupada - "Kṛṣṇa has got many names:

Rāma,

Govinda,

Nṛsiṁha,

Varāha.

There are other forms. Rāmādi-mūrtiṣu kalā-niyamena tiṣṭhan (Bs. 5.39).

Rāma,

Nṛsiṁha,

Varāha.

He has got many forms. Rāma is also expansion of Kṛṣṇa. So these forms we should not consider they are less powerful than Kṛṣṇa.

But Kṛṣṇa is the original form. The example is given in the śāstra, just like candles." (Lecture SB, Canto 7 Ch 9 text 47 Vrndavana, April 2, 1976)

Srila Prabhupada - "This Mahā-Viṣṇu, from whose breathing so many brahmandas and Brahmas are coming and going, that Mahā-Viṣṇu's one second just imagine, how many million millions of years.

So, this is the description of Mahā-Viṣṇu. Then Mahā-Viṣṇu is also partial incarnation of Sankarsana; the Sankarsana is also emanation from Nārāyaṇa; and Nārāyaṇa is also a emanation from the first Catur-vyūha Saṅkarṣaṇa.

This Saṅkarṣaṇa is expansion of Baladeva (Balarama), and Baladeva is the immediate expansion of Kṛṣṇa. Therefore come to the Kṛṣṇa. So ādy antavanta." (Lecture SB, Canto 7 Ch 9 text 49 Vrndavana, April 4, 1976)

Srila Prabhupada - "Kṛṣṇa says, aham ādir hi devānām (Bg 10.2). Devānām means beginning from Brahmā, then Śiva, then so many other demigods, Indra, Candra, Varuṇa. Aham... Even Viṣṇu.

The Viṣṇu, Kṣirodakaśāyī Viṣṇu, He is also partial expansion of Kṛṣṇa, and from Kṣirodakaśāyī Viṣṇu the Viṣṇu is all-pervading.

Īśvaraḥ sarva-bhūtānāṁ hṛd-deśe 'rjuna tiṣṭhati: (BG 18.61) the Supreme Personality of Godhead who is staying in everyone's core of heart, hṛd-deśe." (Lecture SB, Canto 7 Ch 9 text 49 Vrndavana, April 4, 1976)

Srila Prabhupada - "So ananta rūpam, that does not mean the original, kṛṣṇas tu bhagavān svayam (SB 1.3.28), He is lost. No. He is not lost. He is there, although He has expanded Himself.

We (jiva-souls) are also expansion of Kṛṣṇa. We are vibhinnāṁśa (eternal individual jiva-soul [marginal living entity]). We are small particles, not with the full power like the the Viṣṇu expansion, They're with full power.

We, living entities (jiva-souls), we are also expansion, eko bahu śyām. That one God has become many-

As viṣṇu-tattva, as Viṣṇu energy, as Viṣṇu "svāṁśa," as Viṣṇu "vibhinnāṁśa," so many He has expanded." (The Nectar of Devotion Bombay, Jan 9, 1973)

Srila Prabhupada - "When we speak of Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa means all Viṣṇu forms, all Viṣṇu forms.

Rāmādi-mūrtiṣu kalā-niyamena tiṣṭhan nānāvatāram akarod bhuvaneṣu kintu, kṛṣṇaḥ svayaṁ samabhavad paramaḥ pumān yo (Bs. 5.39).

All incarnations, they are also Kṛṣṇa, expansion of Kṛṣṇa. But Kṛṣṇa, this Personality of Godhead, Kṛṣṇa, He's the Supreme Person. Īśvaraḥ paramaḥ kṛṣṇaḥ (Bs. 5.1).

So these things are explained in the Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu, as they are in the Bhagavad-gītā, Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam." (The Nectar of Devotion, Vrndavana, Oct 28, 1972)

Srila Prabhupada - "The Viṣṇu forms, They are known as svāṁśa. And the servitor forms, the living entities (jiva-souls), they are also expansion of Viṣṇu, part and parcel, differentiated, vibhinnāṁśa.

So, everything is an expansion of Kṛṣṇa. Parasya brahmaṇaḥ śaktiḥ. Parasya brahmaṇaḥ śaktiḥ sarvedam akhilaṁ jagat.

Whatever we see, experience within this world, within this universe, they're simply expansion of the energy of Kṛṣṇa.

Just like fire has got two energies, heat and light, similarly Kṛṣṇa is expanding by His two energies, the material energy and the spiritual energy." (The Nectar of Devotion, Vrndavana, Oct 30, 1972)

Srila Prabhupada - "We are also expansions of Kṛṣṇa; we living entities (individual jiva-souls), we are vibhinnāṁśa. Mamaivāṁśa. Kṛṣṇa says mamaivāṁśa. Jīva-loka, jīva-loke,

"The all these living entities (individual jiva-souls), they are My part and parcel."

We (jiva-souls) are also expansion of Kṛṣṇa, or the demigods, they're also expansions of Kṛṣṇa. The Viṣṇu-tattva, They're also expansions of Kṛṣṇa—everyone.

So, Kṛṣṇa means including His expansion, including His energies, including His personal paraphernalia, including His dhāma—everything. That is Kṛṣṇa." (The Nectar of Devotion, Vrndavana, Oct 31, 1972)

Srila Prabhupada - "We have to follow the śāstra; otherwise there is no other alternative to understand the exalted position of Kṛṣṇa, how He expands in different forms, as Viṣṇu, as Nārāyaṇa.

Sometimes they argue that Kṛṣṇa is incarnation of Viṣṇu. That is also truth. You'll find in Caitanya Caritamrita.

Truth in this way, that when any incarnation comes, He comes through the Kṣīrobdhiśāyī Viṣṇu (Maha-Visnu). But Kṣīrobdhiśāyī is partial expansion of Kṛṣṇa. (Maha Visnu is an expansion of Balarama who is Krsna's first expansion)

The subject matter is very intricate, but if we follow the śāstra and accept it, then some clear conception we can have." (Lecture CC Adi-lila 1.7 Mayapur, March 31, 1975)

Srila Prabhupada - "So gradually the author is offering respect, śrī-kṛṣṇa-caitanya prabhu nityānanda śrī-advaita. He has already offered respect to Lord Caitanya and Lord Nityānanda.

Now it is the turn for Śrī Advaitācārya. So advaitam, nondifferent, expansion of Mahā-Viṣṇu. Therefore He is Viṣṇu-tattva; He is not jīva-tattva (jiva-soul). Therefore He is advaita. Advaitam acyutam anādim ananta-rūpam (Bs. 5.33).

Kṛṣṇa has got unlimited number of expansions: expansion, expansion of the expansion, then expansion of the expansion, in this way. So Advaitācārya is expansion of Kṛṣṇa, it is already explained. Therefore He is called advaitam, and ācāryaṁ bhakti śaṁsanāt." (Lecture CC Adi-lila 1.13 Mayapur, April 6, 1975)

Srila Prabhupada - "The demigods, the inhabitants of the higher planetary systems within this material world, or the devotees in the spiritual world, we also, we are, although conditioned souls, we are "vibhinnāṁśa" which means individual jiva-souls or marginal living entities).

We are also expansion of Kṛṣṇa, but we are not equal to the Viṣṇu-tattva who are "Svāṁśa," which means personal expansions in the viṣṇu-tattva category.

We (jiva-souls) are fragment fires. The example is given, just like the big fire and the spark fire. So we living entities (jiva-souls), we are spark fire. We are also fire, because we are part and parcel of Kṛṣṇa, vibhinnāṁśa.

Aṁśa means part and parcel. So Kṛṣṇa is the Supreme Spirit, and we (the jiva-souls) are part and parcel. We are also spirit, but we are not supreme. That is the difference." (Lecture CC Adi-lila 7.8 Vrndavana, March 15, 1974)

Srila Prabhupada - "Expansion of Kṛṣṇa, that is being described by Lord Caitanya. They are described in different Vedic literatures, and we are getting the information in one place from Lord Caitanya. So that is the advantage, to be in the disciplic succession.

To find out in different information from different scriptures, it is very difficult, but if we become in the line of disciplic succession, all the experience is at once achieved."

(Lecture CC Madhya-lila 20.164-173 New York City, Dec 13, 1966)

Srila Prabhupada - "It is very difficult to perform any other religious rituals. This, the best anywhere, everywhere—you can chant Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa. Nāmnām akāri bahudhā nija-sarva-śakti.

Śakti, this word is used, śakti. And from śakti, that energy, śaktyāveśāvatāra.

So this name is also śaktyāveśāvatāra.

bālya, paugaṇḍa haya vigrahera dharma

eta-rūpe līlā karena vrajendra-nandana

And when Kṛṣṇa personally comes, He can be seen in two features, bālya, paugaṇḍa-

His childhood and boyhood, up to sixteenth year. That is the real feature of Kṛṣṇa, kiśora. And further features, that is expansion of Kṛṣṇa, Vāsudeva." (Lecture CC Madhya-lila 20.245-255 New York City, Dec 16, 1966)

Srila Prabhupada - "In this way the Lord created unlimited number of universes." This one universe which you have seen, that is one only; but there are innumerable universes. That is created.

iṅho mahat-sraṣṭā puruṣa-'mahā-viṣṇu' nāma

ananta brahmāṇḍa tāṅra loma-kūpe dhāma

"Now, the expansion of Kṛṣṇa who is doing all this material expansion, He is known as Mahā-Viṣṇu, Mahā-Viṣṇu."

gavākṣe uḍiyā yaiche reṇu āse yāya

puruṣa-niśvāsa-saha brahmāṇḍa bāhirāya

Now here is a nice example. You have seen the sunshine entering your room through a hole of your window, and you will find so many atomic demonstration." (Lecture CC Madhya-lila 20.255-281 New York City, Dec 17, 1966)&=
